Battlefield 3 looks stunning, right? Imagine a sequel to Mirror's Edge running on the same engine.
EA Games President Frank Gibeau has all but confirmed that we'll eventually see Mirror's Edge 2 running on Frostbite 2, telling Gametrailers that "you'll see that combination, I'm sure".
"We haven't killed Mirror's Edge," continued Gibeau. We're actively looking at how to bring it back in the right way. We love that franchise. The DICE guys really created something I think special the first time around. You've got to have a big idea to be able to do the next one and that's what we're working on."
A sequel to Mirror's Edge has long been rumoured to be in development, despite reports earlier this year suggesting the game had been cancelled. EA later stated that Mirror's Edge remained "an important franchise", but wouldn't confirm that a sequel was in the works.
The news from E3, though, suggests that work on a sequel is almost certainly underway.
Mirror's Edge, developed by Battlefield developers DICE, launched back in November 2008 on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. Unlike Battlefield: Bad Company, the game was built on Unreal Engine 3.
