Violent Femmes sind eine Alternative-Band der 80er Jahre, die Folk mit New Wave, Punk und Indie-Rock verbindet, und einen zwar extrem trashigen Sound verfolgen, aber trotzdem meiner Meinung nach sehr gut ihre Gefühle in die Musik einbringen können.
Nach einem Bekannten von mir, der selbst Operndirektor ist, sind die Lieder "unkreativ, unsympathisch, und schlecht abgemischt", was den Nagel auf den Kopf trifft :-D Doch dieser Sound ist durchaus beabsichtigt, und soll die Stimmung in ihren Liedern unterstreichen. Ich weiß aus eigener Erfahrung, dass mindestens zwei der drei Bandmitglieder sehr gut singen können. Ehrenwort^^
Soweit ich weiß, sind die Violent Femmes die ersten, die wirklichen "emorock/pop" gemacht haben. Dabei sind die Rhytmen, der Gesang und vor allem die Instrumente zwar "fröhlich", die Texte handeln jedoch davon, wie schlecht es ihnen geht etc.

Lustigerweise gibt es dann auch genau andersherum Lieder die sich traurig anhören, vom Text aber nicht weiter schlimm sind wie zum Beispiel:

Für die beiden anderen Lieder habe ich keine Hörprobe gefunden, aber wer will kann mich auch mal über icq oder per pn anschreiben.
Es lohnt sich wirklich, sich einmal ein wenig mit ihnen auseinander zu setzen, ich und mein bester Freund sind inzwischen sehr große Fans geworden, und die Musik hat mir schon in mehreren wirklich schweren Zeiten geholfen.
